Christmas Season

Finals have ended and grades have been submitted, phew, another quarter down and Christmas has brought its first miracle of the season... I got all A's this quarter! :) I'm looking forward to next quarter's clinical applications because memorizing information about viruses, bacteria, and parasites can only be interesting for so long. Plus, it will be nice to see a live animal, not just the ones we see in necropsy. However, these may be easier to work with... (hope that humor isn't too dark for anyone)

Wyatt made it home safely! He's been busy fixing his dodge up for the Farrier business, making business cards and interning with local Farriers. Slowly but surely he will acquire clients and I'm sure the quality of his work will procede him. Luckily, there are a few horses here in the Willamette Valley.

Bodie is adjusting to his new home in the NW. He gets to sleep a lot more inside then he's used to right now because the backyard fence is in progress. Everitt tries everyday at least 7x times a day to make Bodie like him. Everitt doesn't seem dissuaded by Bodie's incessant low growls as Everitt parades passed him.

All in all life is good on the home front...we have so much to be thankful for. We can't wait to see family over break...
Side note: We decided at the end of Vet school we will be moving to somewhere above 4,000 feet... wherever that may be. Somehow the mountain air just makes sense :)

Merry Christmas! Wishing you the best and hoping you're spending the holiday season with the ones you love!
Miss you all

Thanksgiving '09

Mom came to visit over break and we headed up to the cascades for some cross-country skiing at the base of Hoodoo. It was perfect weather! Sun shining and 3 feet of snow for a base.
Jefferson in the background! We had too many layers on for our 10 mile ski around Benson sno park

Mom coming up over the ridge. This was the steepest part of the journey but was so worth it, the views were amazing at the top

This hut was halfway through the trip, stocked full of firewood with a potbelly stove in the center for anyone to use.
Mom the navigator :) Luckily we met people along the way because some of the ski trails were ruined by snowmobiles so we would have never found our way back... okay maybe

This is the starting point, and we made it back just as the sun dropped behind the mountain and the temperature dropped about 10 degrees

This is a yurt friends and I rented a couple weekends back... I needed to get out of town and out of the books so we headed to the coast for the weekend. We woke Sunday morning and went to a great cafe for breakfast. It was just what the doctor ordered!

Happy Halloween!!

Montana and Others

This picture was taken last month outside of Corvallis OR, when the sun was still shining, and Jenn and I still had an hour to spare before midterms began. Jenn is kind enough to let me ride Bo whenever I get the chance
Now montana pictures: Vantage point above Bozeman
Wyatt's horseshoe won first prize in the class and he won this tool placed up above

Nice work Wyatt

A fellow student in ferrier school happens to own a bear reserve, so Wyatt got to visit this big grizzly bear in his semi-natural habitat. The guy just called the bear's name and he came lumbering out of his sleepy hole. Apparently the bear growls on command too :)

Road trip

Well I will start at the end because this picture was taken at the beach near 'Devils Punch Bowl' outside of Newport. The dogs (Vadra and Everitt) had been in the car most of the day so we headed down to the ocean to enjoy the sunshine and water. It was Vadra's first time at the coast so she wasn't so sure at first but the waves didn't stop her from chasing the stick for long. Everitt put in a solid effort as well!
We were so lucky to have such amazing weather at the Oregon coast in September... 90 degrees!

This picture is at the Sand dunes near Coos Bay. We ran up to the dunes after we found an awesome camp site to catch the sun going down the first night. The next day we woke to sunny weather again and spent most of the morning playing in the sand. The dogs had sooo much fun!

Everyone is smiling...

This was the steep sandy trail that lead from our campsite to the dunes, Everitt slid up and down it

Ready set go! Vadra barreled down the hill nearly taking out the camera lady :)

The timer feature came in handy

The hike into the abyss

This was taken at random lunch stop location on the way out of the forest. It was an amazing find with crystal clear water.

Hiking around the Umpqua-Rogue River trail

Crater Lake! BEAUTIFUL!

This island developed after a second eruption inside the original volcanoe. The water is melted snow and rain combined that stays at a constant 38 degrees year round

Craters of the Moon in Idaho was this crazy expanse of volcanoe flow with tunnels of all kind we explored and hiked around.

Indian Tunnel

The ropey Pahoehoe lava, just like the kind found in Hawaii

Doesn't it look like a sea dragon with antlers?

Crazy huh?!

Dusk in the park, just arrived and working on the campsite

This pieces are part of the original volcanoe and were caught in the lava flow which brought them to rest over 40 miles from the site of eruption

How thirsty are you Jessie?
