Project 1: the kid

I have an odd feeling that as a vet student I may from time to time acquire some "patients" so I thought I might start documenting them... this way I can look back and laugh at myself and you all can join me :) Wyatt recently trained this baby goat... she got out of her pen (for the 5th time) and Wyatt found her on the top of the wood pile (broken leg and all). He got her down, roped her, and promptly sat on her for 20minutes hehehe. I thought, that doesn't really seem like you did much other then scaring the crap out of her but oh just wait... I came home yesterday to find her out and I no more looked her direction and she b-lined it for the same hole she had snuck out of and laid down in her pen like nothing at all had happend... So long story short, Wyatt trained the goat.
Here's a pic of her with her splint. She's about 5 months old, she broke her front leg just below the wrist. With a homemade splint, we stabilized the leg above and below the joints nearest to the break. Now 2.5 weeks later her bone has realigned and she has begun to put more weight on it. Another couple of weeks and she will be back with her compadres

Rockies Game with a side of 4th of July

After the game, the fans were allowed onto the field to watch the "no expenses spared" firework show! It was a perfect night and both Ana and I got a little choked up as we remembered all those who have served our country, fought for our country and are no longer with us... WE LOVE YOU SCOTTY and Happy 23rd Birthday on July 14th.
We had such a great time!!! Everything about the visit was unforgettable; water world with the woodburys (nice tongue twister), BBQ, downtown happy hour, fireworks after the game and beautiful colorado hiking :)

Colorado

Elkridge Trail; I'd like to say I was ready for the elevation change in this hike but once again if it wasn't for my sister I would have slowed down way back at this sign :) which was about 1/3 of the way in to our adventure
I always forget how amazing the moutains are in Colorado

and the cheesiest smile of the day goes too...

Enjoying the Colorado sunshine

Ana took me on this beautiful hike in Evergreen CO. I think we climbed over 1,700ft in about 4 miles so I was breathing hard to say the least. We were about 20 minutes from the top, and we saw the typical afternoon showers rolling in but who doesn't finish the hike to the top because of a little rain. So of course, just as we turned the corner to reach the summit the clouds opened up and so did the lightening and thunder. Needless to say, we felt slightly jarred after our sprint of a descent down the mountain side, constantly avoiding the slippering rocks and exposed valleys way where we were easy targets for the nearby lightening that was crashing all around us. We stripped down to our sports bras (keep it clean all) as we shivered our way back to civilization. But soooo much fun!!!

Ana's new place is soooo great. Near downtown and close enough to ride her bike to DU plus she is just a couple of miles to a park that is at least 15 acres of grassy fun. These are the roomies from left; Tait, Tony, Abby and Ana :)

Jillian's Bridal Shower/ Our Anniversary

Wyatt and I went on the Argosy Lock's tour for our 3rd Anniversary. Wow three years already! I had never seen Seattle from this vantage point plus we got to see the North American Crab fishing boat from the Discovery channels 'Deadliest Catch'

Wyatt and I stayed at the Veenheizen's always welcoming home over the weekend and we were able to attend Ally and Kate's big swim meet in West Seattle. I loved the urban bonfire Todd started in the backyard fire pit and our delicious vanilla wafer smores. Wyatt and I took the ferry over to downtown Seattle to do some sight seeing and meet up with Jillian and her wedding crew. (only a month away miss Jillian!!!)
